MLB Power Rankings: Yankees making run at Astros
Both Central divisions continue to be led by surprise teams, the Brewers in the NL Central and the Minnesota Twins on the AL side. Buying into the Brewers is a touch more difficult than buying into the Twins based on the overall quality of the respective divisions.
It certainly seems as though the league has figured out Eric Thames (shocking, really). He is not in fact the second coming of Barry Bonds. After his line peaked at a preposterous .415/.500/.981 on April 20, Thames is a .193/.361/.407 hitter over his next 44 games. Next step for the pitchers of MLB — stop walking the guy just because he demolished the Reds in April.
The Cubs can have until the end of the month to figure out if they plan on being a good baseball team or a bad baseball team. That is my official ruling as your faithful FanSided MLB Power Ranker. There has been no consistency for the World Series champs, but at some point they have to figure it out. Right?
We may never know exactly what happened between Addison Russell and his wife, but it is an ugly look for a player who is struggling this season. The shortstop is batting .215/.295/.369 and does not need any distractions. At least his defense remains stellar.
