Minnesota Twins 33-29

Last week: 4-3
Last rank: 11

You don’t have to accept that the Twins just might be for real. I don’t blame you if you’re an Indians fan just counting down the days until they collapse. That is still the most likely outcome for the Twinkies this season.

Who can really say, though? The Twins won a 20-7 laugher over the Mariners on Tuesday night, fueled by three home runs off the bat of Eddie Rosario of all people. He’s no Scooter Gennett, but give the guy some props. Minnesota had 28 hits on a night when their best player, Miguel Sano, sat on the bench. When you can score like that, the fact that Kyle Gibson is giving up six runs and 12 hits in six innings can be overlooked.

Boston Red Sox 37-28

Last week: 5-2
Last rank: 6

The triumphant return of David Price has not gone at all according to plan. The $217-million man has a 5.09 ERA in his first four starts and has walked 11 in 23.0 innings. Price may have a bionic elbow, but that is not very important when he does not command and locate hit pitches.

Chris Sale will have to continue carrying the burden for the Red Sox. Luckily, their staff has not been quite as bad as their rivals in Baltimore, but not by much. Heaven help the Sox if Sale has so much as a hangnail. On a more positive note, the vaunted offense is beginning to heat up. David Ortiz may be allowed to stay retired.
