The Cleveland Cavaliers could be looking to add one huge piece to their roster in the form of Jimmy Butler.

We know a couple of things in this NBA offseason so far. We know that the Cleveland Cavaliers need some help if they want to take down the Golden State Warriors, and we also know that the Chicago Bulls are ready to part ways with star guard Jimmy Butler for the right price tag. However, one thing we never assumed, really, was that the two of these facts would be on a collision course with one another.

Well, that changed on Monday afternoon, just days before the NBA Draft is set to take place. Not very much longer after Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to get in on the Butler sweepstakes, Marc Stein came swooping in with the bombshell that the Cavaliers have been doing their work to try and package something together with some teams to ultimately acquire his services in Cleveland.

Yeah, we were ready for all the craziness of the NBA offseason, but not many people expected to be swimming through some Cavaliers-Jimmy Butler talk. But … here we are!

Now there’s no word on the packages the Cavs are trying to put together, but you would have to imagine that it includes Kevin Love. Something we also know this NBA offseason is that the Cavaliers are more than ready to potentially end the Kevin Love marriage this summer.

Jimmy Butler to the Cavaliers seems like maybe the most unlikely of scenarios for him, but hey, there’s a reason the NBA offseason is the craziest in all of sports. You never really know.
