MLB All-Star Game 2017: Predicting rosters
Outfield
American League:
The top three spots on the ballot go to the Yankees’ Aaron Judge (1,893,260), the Angels’ Mike Trout (1,582,782), and the Astros’ George Springer (804,826). Springer is barely above Cleveland’s Michael Brantley (.296, 5 HR, 28 RBI), who has 776,487 votes, and that third place spot is the one that will likely see some movement before the voting ends.
Judge (.335. 23 HR, 53 RBI) and Trout (.337, 16 HR, 36 RBI) have been at the top of the ballot this entire time. Springer (.282, 16 HR, 44 RBI) made a big move up the ballot since the last time the votes were posted and he’s not guaranteed at this point. However, he’s putting up some very strong numbers and he’s looking really good for the third spot.
Prediction: Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, George Springer
National League:
Two words — Bryce Harper. The Washington Nationals’ standout leads with well over two million votes. He’s the first player to reach that number. Harper (.318, 17 HR, 51 RBI) is not going anywhere from this ballot and will be in the All-Star game.

The Colorado Rockies are hot this year and it’s not surprising that Rockies’ outfielder Charlie Blackmon (.328, 15 HR, 54 RBI) has of 1.5 million votes. He’s doing very well, with a slight edge over Harper’s batting average and RBI.
There’s a close race for third between two members of the Chicago Cubs: Jason Heyward (.258, 6 HR, 29 RBI) and Ben Zobrist (.223, 7 HR, 21 RBI). Heyward has the edge with roughly 737,000 votes over Zobrist’s 678,000, but there’s still time for some movement.
Prediction: Bryce Harper, Charlie Blackmon, Jason Heyward
The All-Star Game airs on Tuesday, July 11.
