$10,000+

Rory McIlroy ($11,600)
This feels like a bit of a gut reaction, but Rory McIlroy’s showing at the U.S. Open where he missed the cut feels a bit like shaking off the rust. He’s not played much this season due to issues with his back and, frankly, that’s what it looked like at Erin Hills. The Travelers is a much friendlier tournament and he should be able to correct what went wrong at the second major. He’s a pricey risk, but one that could pay big dividends in the end.

Jason Day ($11,500)
I don’t know how you feel confident having Jason Day among your DraftKings picks when he bombed at the U.S. Open in conditions and a course that he should’ve been able to take advantage of. But then, that’s really been the story for him all of 2017 to this point. He’s great for a brief stretch, then quite putrid. At his best, though, he’s a pick to win the Travelers. It’s just hard to invest this type of DraftKings salary on a risk like that. But if you’re feeling lucky, here he is.

Jordan Spieth ($11,400)
You have to feel nicely about the way that Jordan Spieth finished at the U.S. Open, playing both loose and well in his final round, even if he finished tied for 35th overall. Even still, if he can come out not pressing, he’s more than talented enough to win the Travelers. At this price and with the inconsistency that he’s displayed this season, he’s a risk to have in your DraftKings picks.

Justin Thomas ($10,200)
It’s a shame that Justin Thomas wasn’t able to capitalize on his record-breaking third round at the U.S. Open fully, but he still finished tied-ninth, which is his second-straight top-10 finish (T4 at the Memorial). That makes five top-10 finishes for the season. And considering that he’s played well here before at the Travelers, finishing top-five a year ago, he’s the best value of the high-tier by a wide margin.
