My DraftKings fantasy golf picks, lineups

Stars and Scrubs

Rory McIlroy ($11,600)
Justin Thomas ($10,200)
Charley Hoffman ($7,300)
Byeong-Hun An ($7,100)
Webb Simpson ($6,900)
Chez Reavie ($6,900)

There are two things to note about going with the stars and scrubs approach with your DraftKings golf picks this week. First, you’re banking on Rory (or Spieth or Day) to show up, which is a huge question mark given their seasons to date. What’s more, you have to find consistency in the value picks to balance that out. For the most part, that’s what you’ve got with this particular lineup.

Middle Load-up

Brian Harman ($8,900)
Tony Finau ($8,700)
Kyle Stanley ($8,600)
Kevin Tway ($8,200)
Russell Knox ($7,800)
Jamie Lovemark ($7,700)

If you should choose to go after the mid-tier aggressively, then you’re looking at an interesting lineup that allows you to get some consistency with great upside when it comes to guys like Harman, Finau and Stanley. However, the real linchpin to this working is for Russell Knox to play at the Travelers like he did last season and not continue being an inconsistent presence like he has been to this point. If the latter happens, this lineup falls apart. As such, this will take a leap of faith also.

My Ideal DraftKings fantasy golf lineup

Justin Thomas ($10,200)
Brandt Snedeker ($9,400)
Brian Harman ($8,900)
Jamie Lovemark ($7,700)
Webb Simpson ($6,900)
Chez Reavie ($6,900)

As you can tell, there’s a lot going into riding the hot hand with this lineup. However, these guys are playing well now and, for the most part, have been playing well all season. TPC River Highlands and the Travelers reward that steady type of play and I think every player in this lineup has the chance to finish exceptionally well in this tournament.
