With Sunday night’s first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match in the books and questions surrounding the outcome, Triple H addressed what took place in St. Louis.

As former Smackdown Women’s champ Becky Lynch climbed the rungs in hopes of claiming the inaugural championship briefcase, the innovator of “No Chin Music” and Carmela’s “friend” James Ellsworth tipped over the ladder causing Lynch to free fall to the canvas.

As the rest of the Smackdown women lay recovering from the intense battle, Ellsworth took it upon himself to make the climb, unhook the case and toss it down to the waiting “Queen of Staten Island.”

As the officials, including tenured referee Charles Robinson, deliberated about the outcome on the outside, Ellsworth grabbed a mic from the timekeepers table and declared Carmella the winner, leaving the announcers and the St. Louis crowd with an uneasy feeling after just watching what had unfolded.

Both Smackdown Live! Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan promised to address the issue first thing on Tuesday when the show hits the air live from Dayton, Ohio.

WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H, who has been absent from television since losing at the hands of Seth Rollins at this year’s WrestleMania had a chance to weigh in on the finish of the match.

During an interview on a United Kingdom TV show, “The King of Kings” was asked his thoughts on the ending to the match. In classic Triple H comedic fashion, he responded by sarcastically stating “we are still trying to confirm 100 percent that James Ellsworth is 100 percent man.”

Some will speculate that this may be foreshadowing to an upcoming storyline involving Ellsworth and the Smackdown Live! Women’s title.

However, in today’s WWE where women are no longer considered “Divas” and are trying to be established as legit equals to their male counterparts, a move like this would seem highly unlikely.

Or would it? Like the old adage goes “anything can happen in WWE.”

Hopefully, we will have answers Tuesday night on Smackdown Live!
