Patrick Peterson

Cornerback, LSU Tigers

The Miami Dolphins defense wasn’t any good last year under then defensive coordinator Vane Joseph. While former linebackers coach Matt Burke largely kept the same concepts in place for the Dolphins defense, it wasn’t good enough to get Miami back into the AFC Playoffs.

Miami is done messing around on that side of the ball and will locate a superstar cornerback in the 2018 SEC redistribution draft. The Arizona Cardinals are hemorrhaging in the secondary because the Dolphins took their other stud defensive back in cornerback Patrick Peterson at No. 12.

Peterson has been everything for the Cardinals defense. Since his arrival in the Valley of the Sun in 2011, all Peterson has done is go to Pro Bowls and put together a Pro Football Hall of Fame career for the Cardinals. He will be the perfect deodorant for what stinks in the Miami secondary.

The 2018 NFL offseason is one that the Dolphins need to get right. While they nailed the 2016 offseason, the 2017 was full of swings and misses. The Dolphins still believe in head coach Adam Gase, but are starting to lose faith in signal caller Ryan Tannehill. Miami begrudgingly retains Tannehill as he was a Big 12 player and not an SEC guy when he was at Texas A&M. Landing Peterson is huge for the Dolphins secondary.

Houston had some problems in the Tom Savage Garden. The Houston Texans pick belongs to the Cleveland Browns from the Deshaun Watson pick. Cleveland is back on the clock…
