Andrew Whitworth

Offensive Tackle, LSU Tigers

Okay, so the New York Giants have some tough choices to make. Long-time starting quarterback Eli Manning has been taken at No. 8 overall by the Detroit Lions to account for the loss of their signal caller Matthew Stafford going No. 1 overall to the New York Jets. What are the Giants going to do?

It’s not really advantageous to go after an SEC veteran quarterback in the re-draft. Maybe a top prospect falls to them in the 2018 NFL Draft? In the meantime, it’s up to young Davis Webb to lead the Giants to victory sans Manning and No. 1 wideout Odell Beckham Jr.

The best thing the Giants can hope to do is to keep Webb upright, at least temporarily. After a rough first year with the Los Angeles Rams, the Giants opt to grab the best offensive lineman in this redraft and grab the technical veteran Andrew Whitworth at No. 14.

Whitworth is one of those players that is so sound fundamentally that he can play well into his late 30s. Playing in the same AFC North with Cleveland Browns’ Joe Thomas has long overshadowed his career. If Webb progresses in year two, we could see a halfway decent transition of power in New York, all things considered.

Defense wins ball games, but can’t stop Blake Bortles from throwing picks. The Jacksonville Jaguars are now on the clock…
