Maurkice Pouncey

Center, Florida Gators

One of the teams that actually did better than expected in the 2017 NFL season was the Jacksonville Jaguars. No, they didn’t win the AFC South or make the AFC Playoffs, but they are not picking in the top-five again in 2018. Hooray!

The Jaguars defense was top-10. Tom Coughlin came into North Florida and made his mark on the program immediately. Shocking to most, neither quarterback Blake Bortles or head coach Doug Marrone were atrocious in 2017. They’ll get another year together in 2018.

That being said, rookie running back Leonard Fournette struggled and Bortles was sacked more than any quarterback in football. Given that Marrone is an offensive line coach by trade, they go out and get the best center available in the SEC redistribution draft and take Maurkice Pouncey at No. 15.

Pouncey is the less injured of the Pouncey Twins. He has been rock solid on the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line the last several years. Though a tad overrated, he is still better than every player on the Jaguars offensive line. Jacksonville finds great value in yet another draft, yet the AFC Playoffs remains elusive to the football team.

That crowd noise at that soccer stadium didn’t help at all. The Los Angeles Chargers are now on the clock…
