Odell Beckham Jr.

Wide Receiver, LSU Tigers

No, the 2017 Chicago Bears weren’t anything like the iconic 1985 Bears. They didn’t go 15-1 and win the Super Bowl over the New England Patriots. Chicago had nearly inverted record of the ’85 team, as quarterback Mike Glennon looked like a backup, rookie Mitchell Trubisky wished he was still playing in the ACC and Mark Sanchez butt fumbled again.

At least Trubisky sort of learned, running back Jordan Howard led the league in rushing and Kyle Long did Kyle Long things on the offensive line. The defense was okay, but head coach John Fox didn’t do okay. Basically, the Bears really missed Alshon Jeffery, as Kendall Wright didn’t cut it on the outside.

With the third pick, Chicago takes New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham goes from one big media market to another. Chicago thinks that he can make all the one-handed catches that Kevin White could only dream of.

Overnight, Beckham becomes the coolest offensive player to play for the Bears since Sweetness himself. He has already remade the Super Bowl Shuffle by himself. Beckham might be getting a little ahead of himself, as he’s got the Camry kid slinging him the ball next year and not Mr. Elusive Eli Manning.

Moneyball is doing work in football. The Cleveland Browns are now on the clock…
