Dak Prescott

Quarterback, Mississippi State Bulldogs

Strictly on Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch’s arrival in the Bay Area, the San Francisco 49ers have their best season since the 2014 NFL campaign. While the 49ers didn’t come close to finishing at .500, they did the unthinkable and brought their head coach back for a second season.

Shanahan was able to lead his team to a handful of victories this fall, mostly over the toothless division rival Los Angeles Rams. Quarterback Brian Hoyer was decent until he magically turned into a pumpkin on November 1. Clearly, Matt Barkley was not a long-term solution under center for the 49ers and C.J. Beathard didn’t see the field.

The 49ers might still really like Beathard, but picking at No. 5 in this SEC redistribution draft means that they’ve got themselves a great chance at getting a great quarterback. They will go with the new face of the Dallas Cowboys franchise in quarterback Dak Prescott. Tony Romo can still sling it, right?

Prescott has had two years running a glorified West Coast offense dinking and dunking for the Cowboys. He’d fit right in to what Shanahan wants to get out of his quarterback. Maybe in 2018, the 49ers improve by nine wins and make the NFC Playoffs? Or not, but Prescott is certainly a welcomed addition to the 49ers roster in this one-of-a-kind draft.

Doug Pederson challenged a two-yard completion again. The Philadelphia Eagles are now on the clock…
