Fletcher Cox

Defensive Tackle, Mississippi State Bulldogs

So it is looking more like the third year of the Carson Wentz era that the Philadelphia Eagles will fly all over the place in the NFC East. Philadelphia struggled to find itself in 2017 and there might have been a change or two in the coaching department after another sub-.500 season in the City of Brotherly Love.

One thing that will inevitably happen is that the team picking in this SEC redistribution draft is that the team picking will ‘protect’ its best SEC stud. The first team that will almost certainly overdraft here to keep their guy is the Eagles. They will slap the No. 6 pick on former Mississippi State Bulldogs standout defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.

Cox is still the most talented player on the Eagles roster. Without him, just how dominant is the Eagles front-seven? Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz will bang his fists on the table to ensure that the Eagles bring Cox back into the fold. By doing so, they’d be able to renegotiate a new salary anyway.

Bringing back Cox obviously doesn’t make the Eagles better. However, taking somebody else over him here at No. 6 has the potential to crater this football team. Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco all drafted impactful superstars before them in this one-of-a-kind draft. Eagles hold serve and wisely take Cox.

Guess what? Marvin Lewis didn’t win a playoff game this year either. The Cincinnati Bengals are now on the clock…
