A.J. Green

Wide Receiver, Georgia Bulldogs

Last year felt more like 2016 than 2015 for the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati failed to reach the AFC Playoffs for the second straight season. While they had a healthy season from wide receiver A.J. Green, Cincinnati is sweating bullets in thinking that they might lose their No. 1 wideout in this SEC veterans only draft.

Fortunately, the Bengals were bad enough to draft Green three spots lower than they initially grabbed him at No. 7 in the 2017 SEC redistribution draft. Quarterback Andy Dalton and offensive coordinator Ken Zampese are thankful that Green fell to the Bengals at No. 7. Time to get to work!

Three wide receivers in the top seven would make some general managers cringe, but Julio Jones, Odell Beckham Jr. and Green are three of the most impactful players at their position in the sport. These are no doubt, sure-fire No.1 receiving talents that can do it all to help elevate an NFL offense.

Whether or not there is a coaching regime change in Southern Ohio, the Dalton and Green connecting gets to continue for an eighth season in 2018. Not losing the team’s most talented player in this SEC re-draft is huge for the Bengals. Retaining their guy like the Philadelphia Eagles did with defensive tackle Fletcher Cox is clearly the way to go for the Bengals.

Thanks for stealing our quarterback we missed the playoffs with, Jets! The Detroit Lions are now on the clock…
