Jared Dudley

Every beer league softball team needs that cliché rah-rah guy that’s a whole lot of talk and not much else. Usually this is also the guy that inevitably hurts himself and has to excuse himself from the game by the bottom of the third inning.

This obnoxious NBA beer league softball team’s emotional supporter is Jared Dudley. In his younger days, he would have been a middle of the order hitter that could play center or right field. He may still have the arm and doesn’t make mental mistakes in the field, but he will find a way to get hurt very early in every game.

With a bag of ice on his knee he busted on third base or his right arm in a sling after diving for a fly ball in right field, Dudley will continue to cheer on his teammates while he pops another cold one from the dugout. His best days as a beer league softball player are behind him, but he’s definitely helping these young kids that didn’t play baseball growing become better players.

His favorite phrases are “first step is always back”, “keep your eye on the ball”, “base hit, base hit” and “there’s no crying in baseball”. Clearly, Dudley has a way to go to reach these kids. While he’s not technically the coach of this team, he’s the one guy on the team players will actually listen with great regularity.
