1. Jonathon Simmons

Chicago’s wing rotation for next season could potentially be set. Dwyane Wade and Zach Lavine will be relied upon when healthy. Both are shooting guards, but Wade may need to attempt to play small forward to get both into the starting lineup. Denzel Valentine or Paul Zipser will likely start if that’s not the case. All four are solid to good players and could easily carry all of the Bulls wing minutes next season.

There is one flaw with the Bulls current wings: Paul Zipser is the best defender. He is fine on that end, but not exactly a stopper. They will get torn up by skilled wings next season if they don’t sign a defensive stopper. Enter Jonathon Simmons to Chicago. The 27-year-old Spur is a free agent this summer and could bring top end perimeter defense to a new team. Given their current wings, Chicago should explore bringing him in.

Simmons has gone from fringe D-League player to valuable NBA wing in his three seasons with Spurs university. His role with the Spurs has grown as the 6-foot-6 inch athlete grew accustomed to the NBA game. While shooting remains a major hole in his game, he has shown some promise there. New to the league for his age, Simmons could still improve. He became a dependable role player for San Antonio and will be so again wherever he plays next season.
