Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis is a team with a rapidly closing window that probably won’t ever be good enough to make a finals appearance. With its current core in place, they’re committed to doing what they can to win now. Marc Gasol sits on the wrong side of 30, while Mike Conley hits the milestone age in October.

If the Grizzlies are gonna make a push, they might as well go all in.

Grizzlies Get
G/F, Evan Fournier; C, Nikola Vucevic; PG, D.J. Augustin
Magic Get
SF, Chandler Parsons; F/C, Brandan Wright; SG, Troy Daniels

The Magic are another team trying to get out from under the mistakes made by previous leadership. I made this exact same trade for Orlando as well since it correlates with their timeline and need to bottom out.

Memphis gains two useful pieces for their supporting cast — a scorer with touch from outside, and a back-to-the-basket offensive force. The signing of Chandler Parsons was supposed to address the former, giving the Grizzlies the type of facilitating wing they never really had before.

Zach Randolph, Grit-N-Grind poster child, is a free agent and is no guarantee to return. Vucevic would slide into his departed role pretty seamlessly and, in time, could learn to fight Blake Griffin every time they play each other.
