NBA Free Agency 2017: One trade every team should make
Chicago Bulls
The scare Chicago put into Boston in the first-round was more red herring than promise for the future. The Bulls have an ill-fitting roster and floating around in perpetuity as a 6-to-8-seed isn’t a good look. The Jimmy Butler trade was the first step in blowing it up.
The fallout from the Tom Thibodeau era has not been fruitful. After a few seasons not sure whether they were coming or going, the Bulls have stepped into full rebuilding phase. Time to keep purging the vets and hand the keys to the kids.
Chicago should call Thibodeau back up and see if he wants to reunite with another one of his former players. Especially since Chicago got fleeced on the draft night trade for Butler. Rajon Rondo doesn’t have too much value around the league and almost none to a team under construction.
Rondo has been known for getting disgruntled. A reunion with his old coach might be the only way to avoid a situation of infighting caused by intense Connect 4 tournaments.
