NBA Free Agency 2017: One trade every team should make
Dallas Mavericks
Mark Cuban’s never been afraid of taking risks. It’s been a detriment at times, but also built a champion. He’s also never shied away from spending money. The Mavericks routinely roll out one of the highest payrolls year after year. Winning is always the goal.
The man it’s all been centered around for nearly two decades is future hall of famer, Dirk Nowitzki. This offseason, Nowitzki is restructuring his deal to give Dallas more flexibility to work with. Mark Cuban will continue to repay the face of his franchise’s loyalty and surround him with the best teammates possible for his final hurrah.
They don’t have too much in the way of tradeable assets, so they’ll have to get creative.
Brandon Knight is coming off a very down year where he scored a career-low 11 points per game. Rick Carlyle gets the most out of his players, so I’d leave it to him to restore Knight’s confidence. At their peaks, Knight is the best player. And even though he’s the longest tenured in the league, he’s actually the youngest of the three.
Dwight Powell brings energy and Seth Curry, as his name would indicate, is a marksman. Phoenix’s biggest coup in this deal is moving Knight’s contract.
