Detroit Pistons: Eminem
Have you ever seen Marshall Mathers (AKA Eminem) speak to a basketball? It’s like some Tom Hanks-in-Castaway type stuff, and it’s weird. As part of a promotional campaign the Pistons put on in 2015, several Detroit celebrities filmed pieces where the celestial basketball torments them in memeable ways. It’s called #TheLongestOop, and the fact that Eminem even did it means he probably loves the Pistons more than anyone else.

Eminem is the most public and recognizable Detroiter in the world, thanks to his film 8 Mile about the city and countless references in his music. He grew up poor in the area, and has used his experiences there as fuel to become one of the most celebrated musicians of all time. After becoming so successful, Eminem has refigured his relationship with Detroit, becoming one of its most outspoken supporters. He helped put together a famous Super Bowl ad in 2010, and is generally more philanthropist than philanthro-pissed nowadays.
As far as the Pistons are conerned, Eminem has partnered with the team several times. The rapper released a “Mathers” shirsey on his site in March of last year, and let them use his song to promote Andre Drummond’s All-Star candidacy. Remember those “Obama sings a pop song” memes? Eminem actually let the Pistons remix his song like that just for Drummond’s longshot All-Star odds.
The other option here was Kid Rock, but way more people like Eminem than Kid Rock. I’m not buying a Kid Rock shirsey, but I might look on EBay right now for that Mathers shirsey. Eminem is the Pistons’ biggest celebrity fan.
