Andre Iguodala

Small Forward, Golden State Warriors

Though he has expressed great interest on re-upping with the defending champion Golden State Warriors, this could be a big summer for free agent swingman Andre Iguodala. He is exactly the type of veteran forward than any team would love to have, including the Hawks.

What makes Atlanta such a compelling landing spot for Iguodala is that Schlenk is now running the Hawks front office. Schlenk knows first-hand the type of impact that Iguodala can bring to a basketball culture. Iguodala did take less money to go play for the Warriors a few summers ago after a brief stint with the Denver Nuggets.

Is Iguodala primed to be overpaid by an underwhelming team like the Hawks? Sure, but this would be an exciting move for Atlanta to make should the organization be able to sign Iguodala. Would there be a better wing mentor for Taurean Prince in Atlanta than Iguodala?

The Hawks realize that Prince has the makings of a special player. Why not add the perfect mentor in Iguodala to ensure that Prince doesn’t get lost in the shuffle? Atlanta could offer Iguodala two things he can’t have in Golden State: money and an opportunity to start. It really comes down to how much he values winning over everything else.
