Cole Beasley

Wide Receiver, Houston, Texas

During the 2017 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys made the playoffs for the second straight year. Second-year quarterback Dak Prescott actually did not suffer a Sophomore slump, although his third season may be a rough ride. In this draft alone, the Cowboys have lost Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams, Prescott’s two main targets from a year ago.

One wide receiver who will not have to pack his bags is Cole Beasley, whom the Cowboys selected at No. 24. Beasley has been a steady contributor to the team over the last couple of seasons, and has the kind of playmaking ability you need out of a top receiver. He is not gong to give you the kind of production you get from Bryant, or even Williams, but he should get his fair share of catches in the slot.

For the Cowboys to be successful in 2018, they are going to have to play a ground-and-pound type of offense. Their defense is solid, and third-year running back Ezekiel Elliott was the NFL Most Valuable Player a year ago. He will be counted on even more in his third season, as the Cowboys will have to find a new identity due to the loss of star power on their offense.

Dallas is going to be back in the playoffs in 2018, as the combination of Prescott and Elliott is one of the better duos in the league. Beasley is going to have to be a 75-plus catch guy if the Cowboys are going to win the division, although the New York Giants appear to be the favorite heading into the Summer.
