2. Because Calipari is currently at Kentucky

While the main reason is something we’ve been floating around here for this whole time, the opposite of the statement is also completely true and a big reason why Calipari should stay put.

Why would you want to leave Kentucky, one of the best basketball programs year in and year out in college sports, to go head the Knicks organization, who has a new piece of drama added to it every week? Calipari’s program gets big-name recruits every year, and there are always players looking to head to Kentucky to learn from one of the best college coaches in the game today.

Calipari had three of his players from last season go in the first 14 picks of the 2017 NBA Draft, and it goes to show just how important playing for his program can be if you’re looking to go pro soon.

The opportunity to have one of, if not the most loaded program in college basketball every year is appealing enough, and, at this point, adding to your national championship resume will be more impressive than bringing the Knicks to the playoffs only for them to fall apart to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, or the other teams building up super lineups in the Eastern Conference.

Calipari is living the life at Kentucky, and has all the respect in the world from everyone, whether they’re inside or outside of his organization. There’s no benefit to leaving for a lackluster NBA team when you’re on top of the mountain as one of college basketball greats.

And, of course, it’s the Knicks.
