4. Patty Mills, PG, San Antonio Spurs

Man, if only Cleveland had a backup point guard, that was a bit undersized, but played his tail off every possession, hit the occasional 3-pointer and made plays for teammates. Oh wait, that was Matthew Dellavedova, who’s now a Milwaukee Buck.

Cleveland tried Mo Williams — who retired — and then Deron Williams. Both were aging stars in search of a ring, that didn’t do all the things that Delly brought to the floor for the Cavs’ championship team in 2016.

That’s exactly where Patty Mills comes in. A hustle guy, that’ll be a defensive pest and also be reliable on offense. This past season with San Antonio, Mills averaged 9.5 points and 3.5 assists on 22 minutes every night. He was a key rotation player for the Spurs these past few years. But with Tony Parker and a younger — and cheaper — Dejounte Murray, R.C. Buford and the Spurs might let Mills walk.

At 28-years-old, the Spurs’ backup point guard might be looking for more money, but the Cavaliers could offer him the best shot of winning outside of Golden State. He’d have a defined role on the team and asked to do a lot in Cleveland, similar to his role in San Antonio.

Mills was also a 41 percent 3-point shooter this past season, so it gives LeBron the space to operate with the second team, while also getting a defender on the opponent’s point guard. Mills won’t come cheap, the Cavaliers will have to work some magic, but this could be a great addition to their roster.
