3. Joe Ingles

That’s right we’ve got another Australian on the list! If the Sixers were to sign both Joe Ingles and Patty Mills, they might as well re-acquire Andrew Bogut and trade for Delly and Dante Exum. Get the gang together in Philly!

Although Covington would presumably start at small forward, Ingles could provide solid minutes the 76ers at both the three and the four spots. Ingles has a funky style of play that would make Philadelphia a more versatile team on both ends of the floor.

The Australian international shot well above the 40 percent threshold from 3-point land last season on solid volume; he’s also a good shooter from the corners. The floor could get pretty cluttered with Philadelphia’s lack of shooting across the roster, so adding a legit threat like Ingles would be a massive help for the offense. On the other end of the floor Ingles is wily and can stymie a wide range of offensive players, despite a lack of quickness. He’s a good fit in switching schemes and can dependably guard three positions against most teams.

Coach Brett Brown should have some leeway to experiment with rotations and lineups throughout the season as the Sixers try to discover what they have in their young core. Adding Ingles to the mix would only make those lineup experiments more fun. And of course, he would bring some patented Australian wit and humor to Philly’s locker room. Ingles is a well-known prank artist so he would fit right in with Joel Embiid, who’s the ringleader of the youth movement on the 76ers. Overpaying him for a short duration would be a solid move here.
