1. J.J. Redick

The Redick to Philly buzz really picked up back in May. On a podcast just after the conclusion of the NBA Draft Lottery, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical indicated that the Sixers will be targeting Redick this summer.

With Fultz demonstrating some glaring defensive weaknesses in college, adding Redick as his starting backcourt partner would probably be brutal for Philly’s defense.  Whatever the potential defensive weaknesses, the 76ers need a legit sniper on this roster. Redick has consistently been one of the league’s top shooters for most of this decade. Simmons’ shot is a concern and we have yet to see how Fultz will transition to the NBA 3-point line. Although Joel Embiid flashed some solid 3-point shooting last season, consistently relying on him as a floor spacer is not the best use of his many talents. Philly needs a dependable shooter in its starting lineup. Redick would be a fantastic stopgap solution at shooting guard for the Sixers.

Like Iguodala, Redick will probably be expensive. He has never made more than $7.5 million in any single season of his career (per Basketball-Reference), so he will likely be seeking a big payday as he approaches his mid-thirties. The Sixers have more than enough space to pay Redick handsomely. Give him $40 million over two years. Why not? He’s a veteran presence that fills a critical need. Redick provides many of the same benefits as Korver, but can probably play more minutes at this point in his career. The fit on both ends of the floor isn’t seamless, but Redick can help the young Sixers as they coalesce and mature together.
