Golden State Warriors: Andre Iguodala

Coming off of their third-straight NBA Finals appearance and a second title in three years, the Golden State Warriors now face a litany of tough tasks to keep their core together their offseason. They Warriors have a number of free agents entering this offseason, and though there are several stars that fit that mold, it’s the depth on the roster that should be the most critical to retain. And frankly, it almost feels belittling to call Andre Iguodala just “depth” considering how invaluable he’s been to their success.

Iguodala has thrived in the sixth man role for the Warriors. There are many reason why Golden State has been successful over their recent run, the versatility and ability that he provides them off of the bench is perpetually one of the most underrated. He can defend multiple positions, provide solid offense, and has a veteran wherewithal that’s hard to quantify. Perhaps the best example, though, would be his late-game outside shooting, hitting big shots in key moments despite not being a great overall shooter.

The point is that Iguodala is one of the linchpins in what makes the Warriors so special. However, they’re undoubtedly in danger of losing him. With two rings already to his name, there’s a chance that he might look elsewhere for a payday. As such, the Warriors have to go all-in on trying to re-sign him. He’s not alone in being a key cog in the system that they need to retain, but he’s the most important for my money.
