3. Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose could be an option that might not cost so much either. He had a decent season with the New York Knicks, but it didn’t help his cause that the team missed the playoffs. The Knicks have bigger problems than possibly losing Rose though.

There seems to be a rift between Phil Jackson and Carmelo Anthony. Kristaps Porzingis, the team’s most valuable asset, also doesn’t appear to love the organization. He skipped his exit interview with the team, and it is clear that they need a point guard who can focus on getting him the ball. The Knicks are a franchise in complete disarray. Jackson should’ve waited until Jeannie Buss took over the Los Angeles Lakers before taking the job in New York, but the past is the past. “The Zenmaster” hasn’t looked all that wise during his time in the front office, and it might be best for him to keep writing books and avoid major personnel decisions. Jackson is only hurting his reputation at this point.

The Knicks are desperate to make the playoffs next year; however, that isn’t likely to happen if they trade Anthony. This would mean New York is in rebuilding mode. That could signal Rose might be available at a discount. Especially since his season ended yet again with a knee injury, and the Magic should take advantage if that is the case.
