The New York Knicks are in the market for a point guard, and with NBA free agency set to begin, the Knicks will not meet with free agent Jeff Teague.

The New York Knicks are looking to make some sweeping changes to their franchise. They parted ways with President of Basketball Operations Phil Jackson and now look to find their winning ways again.

Their biggest star or asset, Kristaps Porzingis, isn’t going anywhere. Carmelo Anthony looks to be heading out of town pretty soon. Derrick Rose will be a free agent, so the Knicks are trying to find a replacement for him.

One option they’ve strongly considered in the latest days is former Indiana Pacers point guard Jeff Teague. But ESPN’s Marc Stein is now reporting that the Knicks have canceled their meeting with Teague, because they believe he’s headed to Minnesota.

The Minnesota Timberwolves traded away point guard Ricky Rubio earlier today to the Utah Jazz. In return, the T’Wolves were expected to court Kyle Lowry and Teague, and it looks like the latter might be headed to Minnesota.

The Knicks will continue to scour the market for a floor leader, but it looks like a reunion with Rose has a strong possibility. Rose had an up and down season last year, but would take a pay cut to stay in New York.

The Knicks were also interested in Derrick Rose, but it would have to come at the right price. Some other free agent point guards to consider include Lowry, Patty Mills and George Hill. It’s a position of emphasis for the Knicks, and they’ll have to address it immediately in free agency.

But it looks like for now New York won’t be landing Jeff Teague as its point guard of their future in free agency.
