The summer transfer window is approaching and every team’s fans are dreaming of a big signing.

This week saw a few players change hands around the world. Willy Caballero joined Chelsea, Jermain Defoe went back to Bournemouth and Liverpool swung Mohamed Salah from Roma.

Every week, FanSided will round up some of the most pie-in-the-sky gossip. Will it be Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Celtic? Paul Pogba back to Juventus? Ronaldinho out of retirement to play in MLS?

Here are the five dumbest transfer rumors for the week ending June 3.

1. Ivan Perisic to Manchester United

United’s reported pursuit of Perisic has been on-again-off-again, to say the least. The 28-year-old Croatian international scored 11 Serie A goals for Inter Milan this season, and he could certainly fortify United’s attack. That said, Inter are not at all keen on losing him.

According to The Sun, Perisic is pushing for a move to Old Trafford, telling his agent to get it done. Inter no longer need to sell him, though, with several smaller deals reportedly set to satisfy their Financial Fair Play problem. Now, Inter are unlikely to budge on their £50 million price tag, with the pressure to sell at a discount gone.

Perisic would certainly add to United’s lineup significantly, and Jose Mourinho is right to be going after him. However, the cost is much too steep. United have more pressing needs to spend that kind of money on.
