11. College GameDay

One of the great things about this entry is that it can happen anywhere. It’s easy to access (and free), and it happens every week, rain or shine.

The traveling college football road show, College GameDay, first ventured outside ESPN’s Bristol studies to get a closer look at No. 1 Florida State’s trip to South Bend to take on No. 2 Notre Dame in 1993. Since, it’s made a habit of broadcasting on location across the country, growing to six outdoor episodes in 1994, and expanding to every week of the regular season, as well as the Army-Navy Game, a conference championship contest, and two legs of the College Football Playoff, including the national title game.

Typically, the show chooses the location of the biggest game of the week, whether it is a top rivalry like the Iron Bowl or The Game (either Ohio State-Michigan or Harvard-Yale, it’s been to both) or a neutral site matchup, such as 2017’s kickoff between Alabama and Florida State in Atlanta.

GameDay has trekked to many exotic college football locales. Last year alone, the show broadcasted from Lambeau Field, the Battle at Bristol at Bristol Motor Speedway, Salt Lake City and Kalamazoo, Michigan. ESPN’s huge cast of characters has gone to FCS cities like Fargo and Harrisonburg, visited the U.S.S. San Diego, Wrigley Field, and FBS college towns of every shape and size.

And of course, a visit to College GameDay site could provide an opportunity to cross multiple items off your college football bucket list, having broadcasted from the site of almost every entry listed here.
