Honduras face Costa Rica at Red Bull Arena on Friday, July 7. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

In the second match of the 2017 Gold Cup, Honduras will battle Costa Rica in Group A. Honduras qualified for the competition by winning the 2017 Copa Centroamericana tournament. This will be their 14th appearance in the Gold Cup. The country’s previous best came in the first edition of the newly-branded Gold Cup, where they finished runners-up to the United States. Forward Eddie Hernandez scored three goals for Honduras during the Copa Centroamericana to lead the competition, and could play a big role in the Gold Cup.

Costa Rica enter the tournament in poor form. Despite being one of the three favorites in the competition, they nearly missed it altogether. Only four international clubs automatically qualify through the tournament, and Costa Rica finished in fourth. Even though they did not perform well, they only lost one match in five, drawing three and winning one. One of those draws was against Honduras on Jan. 20. Both of these squads are likely to go through to the knockout rounds in this group, and this match will serve as a terrific preview.

Honduras and Costa Rica are the two favorites to come out of Group A, and they both will want to start off the Gold Cup in style. Costa Rica are slight favorites, but this match could well decide the group winner.
