Jeff Gordon

Oh hi there, Jeff Gordon. Yes, we know you’re retired, but you’re not just going to stay in that FOX Sports booth forever, right? We could possibly coax you out of retirement for one more drive?

That would be the perfect storyline for a getaway driver. The legendary veteran, he of the multiple Cup Series championships and the other guy to win both the Daytona 500 and the Rolex 24 at Daytona, is convinced to come out of his happy retirement to pull off one last job. That’s a plot we’ve seen in movies (not Baby Driver, but we digress).

And with Jeff Gordon it’s completely plausible, considering that he already interrupted his retirement once last year to become the substitute driver for his friend Dale Earnhardt Jr. when Junior was out for the remainder of the 2016 NASCAR season. Gordon’s shown he’s willing to come out and race again, so with everything he’s done in his career, it’s a no-brainer to consider him as your getaway driver. He’s already been in a police chase!

There is a downside here, though, and it’s not a small one. Everybody loves Jeff Gordon, so that means everybody knows Jeff Gordon. He’d have to go undercover to pull off your heist. But he’s done that too: there was that time he worked at an Autozone for CBS’s reality series I Get That A Lot and of course that Pepsi Max commercial where he pranked a car salesman. Gordon would need to disguise himself again to join your crew, but that’d be a minor quibble if you could hire one of the winningest drivers in the Cup Series to be your wheelman.
