Speaking of consistency, if you just want your getaway driver to be a darn good driver with no frills whatsoever, then hire Martin Truex Jr. Truex keeps qualifying up front and keeps finishing near the front. Currently second in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship points, Truex has two victories in the 2017 NASCAR season and 11 other finishes within the top 10. He’s only finished outside of the top 20 three times this year, and done it all with an even temperament and great facial hair.

Which brings us to our second point: you can’t blame Truex for a great deal of the misfortunes that have befallen him this year and otherwise. The way he keeps getting caught up in other people’s situations or having fluky things happen to him has become a bit of a running joke throughout NASCAR.

That makes the consistency that Truex has been able to put together that much more worth talking about, because imagine what he could do if bad things stopped happening to him. Maybe he’d take all those stage wins, the most of any driver in 2017, and turn them into more race victories.

Of course then you also have to be wary of that bad luck if you’re hiring him as your getaway driver. You don’t want Truex’s bad luck rubbing off on you, especially when you’re in the middle of an escape. It’d be terrible if your car caught fire or got slammed into by Brad Keselowski or something. You might want to take a rabbit’s foot with you.
