25 NASCAR drivers to consider as getaway drivers for that one last heist
Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Will there ever be a name in NASCAR as big as Dale Earnhardt Sr.? The sport lost an icon when Earnhardt crashed at Daytona and it’s not an understatement to say that it will never be the same. It’s hard to believe that he’s been gone for more than a decade now, and he still holds a cherished spot in the hearts of not only NASCAR fans, but drivers and other personalities throughout the community not just for what he did, but who he was and how he inspired others.
That being said, when he was still with us, Dale Earnhardt would also have been an iconic getaway driver. The fact that his nickname was “The Intimidator” tells you all that you need to know in that respect. Absolutely no one would have messed with him, be it your criminal rivals, the cops on your tail or just anyone even looking at him the wrong way. He was larger than life and that would have translated into any heists.
His qualifications speak for themselves, including being the first person to earn seven NASCAR Cup Series championships, four IROC championships, a Daytona 500 victory and his posthumous induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. If you’d called him to help you out, you would have been getting the absolute best of the best, skill-wise.
Add that to his strength of character and utter fearlessness, and Dale Earnhardt had it all as not only a great getaway driver, but a formidable competitor and a remarkable human being.
