Martinique face Nicaragua at Nissan Stadium on Saturday, July 8. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Nicaragua were the last team to qualify for the Gold Cup, after defeating Haiti in a fifth-place playoff. Martinique qualified for their fifth Gold Cup and look to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2002.

Neither the Nicaragua nor Martinique roster has many household names that people outside of those countries will recognize. Only four players on the Nicaragua roster play on a club team outside of their home country. Martinique also has four players who play outside of the country but also has three players with European experience who are without a team.

Kevin Parsemain plays in Martinique but has spent time in France and in MLS with the Seattle Sounders (though he never made an appearance). Parsemain is his country’s all-time leading scorer and will be the focal point of their attack. The Nicaraguan attack will be fronted by Juan Barrera who is the second leading scorer in national team history. Barrera has spent the majority of his career in Nicaragua but has had stints playing in Panama, Austria and Guatemala.

This is likely the only group stage game that Martinique or Nicaragua can win as they are heavy underdogs against Panama and the United States. With the top two third place teams advancing to the knockout stage, a win could see either team advance.
