New York Yankees

AL, East

So let’s just say that the Cardinals aren’t going to trade Carpenter to a bottom-feeder or an also-ran this July? What’s actually going to be a solid landing spot for the guy? How about the New York Yankees? Yes, that could work out wonderfully.

Of course, Carpenter will have to be clean-shaven to play in pinstripes, but this looks to be a good spot to rejuvenate the second half of his big league career. The Yankees are in the mix to win the AL East or get back into the postseason as a Wild Card team this fall. However, the Yankees have seen first hand the horrors that come with playing in that one-game playoff game. It’s not good to lose that one.

With that being said, we should expect the Yankees to push for the AL East crown with the likes of the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays in the second half. Whomever wins that divisional race might be the second best team in the Junior Circuit not named the Houston Astros.

Since the Yankees need help at both corner infield positions, Carpenter might be their guy. They need more help at first in the post-Mark Teixeira years than at the hot corner. However, they could look to upgrade over Chase Headley at third who is having a down year for the Yankees. A quid pro quo swap wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, right? Here’s to new beginnings!
