DraftKings fantasy golf picks: John Deere Classic 2017
$7,000-$8,000
Nick Watney ($7,900)
Nick Watney has been consistent this season, if not spectacular. He’s missed only four cuts all season, but also hasn’t registered a single top-10 finish yet. However, he’s on a run of seven-straight made cuts and has finished T13 and T37 the past two weeks. His DraftKings price might be a little high, but there’s upside.
Bryson DeChambeau ($7,800)
Hopes were high for Bryson DeChambeau entering 2017, but he started abysmally with 12 missed cuts in his first 16 events. However, he’s made three-straight cuts now and looks to be in form finally with three finishes at tied for 26th or higher, the best coming last week when he tied for 14th. When he’s in form, he’s capable of being great and should be on your radar.
Kelly Kraft ($7,700)
This price is probably a little too high for me to have him in a lineup, but Kelly Kraft is interesting nonetheless. After missing 7-of-8 cuts, he finished tied for 43rd at the Quicken Loans and then showed out last week by tying for fifth. Who knows if this is the start of something, but it’s worth mentioning.
Chad Campbell ($7,600)
The start of 2017 was forgettable for Chad Campbell, but the veteran has found his form of late. He’s made four cuts in his last five events, while also registering two top-10 finishes, three top-15 showings and four finishes in the top 35 over that span. He’s a veteran rounding into form and I like him to keep it up at the John Deere.
Nick Taylor ($7,600)
At some point people will start noticing Nick Taylor, right? The Canadian tied for ninth at The Greenbrier last week, his third top-10 finish since the start of May. What’s more, he’s made 14-of-18 cuts this season and has just been remarkably consistent thus far. He’s great value at this price.
J.J. Spaun ($7,200)
J.J. Spaun made 10 of his first 13 cuts this season and three top-10 finishes. He then went to miss the cut in three-straight events. However, he came back last week with a decent T29 showing. Is that a sign of returning to form or just a flash in the pan for the American?
Curtis Luck ($7,100)
At just 20 years old, Curtis Luck looks like he might be hitting his groove. He’s been relatively consistent making cuts this season (9-of-13), but his finishes have been great the past two weeks. He finished tied for fifth at the Quicken Loans and then tied for 20th at The Greenbrier. He’s loaded with talent and I like for him to keep it up.
