Boston Red Sox

AL, East

Houston might end up with the best record in the American League, but we should expect a club like the Boston Red Sox to orchestrate a deep October run of their own this fall. Boston leads an ultra-competitive AL East at the All-Star break at 50-39. The Red Sox definitely need help at the hot corner for sure.

The Pablo Sandoval deal has been a total disaster for the Red Sox organization. Since this is a major market franchise with a massive payroll already, the Red Sox can afford to trade for Moustakas on an expiring deal before the deadline to temporarily get better at third base. He might even be a candidate to sign with them beyond 2017.

Not only do the Red Sox have to fend off AL East rivals in the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays down the stretch, they will be jockeying for that No. 2 seed in the ALDS with presumably the Cleveland Indians. Cleveland won the AL pennant last year and have one of the most complete teams in baseball again in 2017.

Adding an All-Star like Moustakas could boost the Red Sox into a serious World Series contender. While they are not a top-four team in baseball this summer, Boston is a stand-up city and loves their Red Sox. If you think Moustakas is having a great season, wait for him to come alive in October. Moose lives for October. If he does get traded, he will make a contender instantly better.
