Cincinnati Reds 39-49

Last week: 6-5
Last rank: 27

The Reds are an interesting team to watch at the deadline. Their two biggest trade chips, Zack Cozart and Raisel Iglesias, could also figure into the long-term rebuilding vision. Iglesias is under team control through 2020. Cozart is a candidate to be locked up with an extension before free agency.

If you take a look at the Reds roster, it’s hard not to envision them as the 2018 version of the Milwaukee Brewers. They have a very dynamic lineup that is more than good enough to carry a pitching staff that just has to be average. If the right pieces fall into place in the Reds rotation, they can contend very soon.

Chicago White Sox 38-49

Last week: 5-5
Last rank: 24

The rebuild is in full effect for the White Sox, and they landed a haul for Jose Quintana. Eloy Jimenez has the potential to be a cleanup hitter for years to come, while Dylan Cease has ace upside and is a number-three starter at worst. Here is a brief list of the prospects the White Sox have picked up since December — Yoan Moncada, Lucas Giolito, Michael Kopech, Reynaldo Lopez, Luis Robert and Dane Dunning.

Is it too early to pick the White Sox for the 2020 World Series? They’re still not done adding to their prospect haul. GM Rick Hahn will extract two more elite prospects from the Washington Nationals for closer Dave Robertson and can also shop Avisail Garcia and Jose Abreu for top-100 prospects. This is a rebuild done right.
