Ryan Lochte had his charges in the bizarre Rio Olympics incident dropped in Brazil’s appellate court.

Ryan Lochte is officially a free man. In one of the more bizarre incidents ever to happen at an Olympic event ever, Lochte somehow was able to dodge a massive bullet.

According to David Meeks of USA TODAY, the appellate court in Brazil decided to dismiss the criminal case that was launched after he was charged with communicating a crime to the police.

If you haven’t heard of this crazy tale, let’s take a trip down memory lane.

In an interview with NBC during the Summer Olympics in Rio, Lochte claimed that he and three other members of the U.S. swim team were robbed at gunpoint at a gas station. What really happened was that Lochte plus the three other swimmers went ta shell gas station and started raising cane.

They broke the mirror and a soap dispenser in the bathroom, and, just for good measure, the smashed up a poster that was outside the bathroom. It’s one thing to tear up a bathroom like you’re a B-rated rock star, but a gas station bathroom?

Really?

Anyway, the cops later found out that the swimmers had lied and were ordered to pay a fine and leave the country. The three swimmers who were involved in the incident did, but not Lochte.

Not only did he stand by the story, his lawyers made the motion to have the charges dropped, but the lower court stood by the criminal charge. In today’s ruling, the appeals court decided that Lochte had not broken any Brazillian laws because it was the Rio police that opened up the false gun hold up.
