Offense

Notable losses: D’Onta Foreman is Texas’ biggest loss on offense. The team will need to make up 2,000 yards of production, which may have to come from increased quarterback production and a handful of running backs. No single back may replace Foreman, but the potential of those that remain from last season (Kyle Porter, Chris Warren III, new incoming freshmen) is unknown.

QB: Shane Buechele, Sophomore

Shane Buechele should enter the 2017 season as the starting quarterback. He showed promise as a freshman throwing for 2,958 yards and 21 touchdowns. Buechele’s sophomore campaign will be an opportunity for him to improve on these numbers and become the leader of the offense, something that may be needed without Foreman around.

RB: Kyle Porter, Sophomore

As for Foreman’s replacement, Kyle Porter could be the top option. He saw just 45 carries as a freshman, but managed a respectable 4.5 yards per carry for 206 yards. There will be competition, however, from Chris Warren III and freshmen Toneil Carter and Daniel Young for extra carries. Will one of them emerge?

WR: Collin Johnson, Sophomore

Collin Johnson is a former four-star recruit from the 2016 recruiting class. He played in 9 games last fall, catching 28 passes for 315 yards. The Texas wide receiver group was weak last season and still has its questions for 2017, but Johnson should receive a chance at taking over the starter role and to step up as the top wideout on the team.

WR: Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Sophomore

WR: Devin Duvernay, Sophomore

TE: Andrew Beck, Senior

Andrew Beck will enter his senior season at Texas, but with the chance of being the full-time starter at tight end. He’ll have to fend off freshman Cade Brewer, but will get the chance to shine in this new-look offense.

LT: Connor Williams, Junior

LG: Patrick Vahe, Junior

C: Jake McMillan, Redshirt Junior

RG: Zach Shackelford, Sophomore

RT: Denzel Okafor, Sophomore
