Christian Kirk

Wide Receiver, Texas A&M Aggies

The Texas A&M Aggies have an absolute stud at wide receiver in junior Christian Kirk. He made the preseason All-SEC first team after SEC Football Media Days in Hoover last week. Kirk, along with running back Trayveon Williams, will headline a multi-faceted offensive attack down in College Station for Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin.

Regardless of the quarterbacking situation in Texas A&M, Sumlin will find ways to get Kirk the ball to put up points on SEC defenses. In two years with the Aggies, Kirk has 163 catches for 1,937 yards and 16 touchdowns. If he leaves College Station after his junior year, Kirk stands to be a first-round talent in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s probably the best wideout Texas A&M has had since Mike Evans, who now stars for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Texas A&M should have an underrated offensive line in the SEC and that will help the Aggies Air Raid attack get Kirk close to 100 total touches in 2017. Some in College Station might claim Kirk is a serious Heisman Trophy candidate, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Texas A&M is losing Trevor Knight at quarterback and winning 10 games in a season is probably more important for Sumlin than force-feeding Kirk the rock to boost his Heisman stats.

Nevertheless, Kirk will be a major reason college football fans will be tuning in to watch the Aggies play on fall Saturdays, even with no stake in the game. Overall, Texas A&M looks to be a middle of the pack team in the SEC. Should Kirk elevate the Aggies to an SEC Championship contender, he might take home the Biletnikoff Award and then some.
