6. Daniel Berger (+8000)

It’s honestly baffling that Daniel Berger is listed at +8000 in terms of his odds. Not only is he a player that has started to gain a bit of notoriety over the past year or so, but there’s probably no golfer in the world that has enjoyed the amount of recent success that Berger has. To put it plainly, Berger has been leaving a trail of flames on the course over the past month or so in a manner that’s gone unmatched.

Admittedly, Berger missed the cut at the biggest tournament he’s played in his last four, the U.S. Open. While that’s not promising, everything else about his recent run his. In the other three of his last four events, Berger hasn’t finished outside of the top five. That includes a win at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, a second-place finish at the Travelers Championship (behind Jordan Spieth) and then the tied-fifth finish last week at the John Deere Classic. Who else can say that in terms of their recent form?

If Berger is going to compete at the 2017 British Open, he has to maintain the level of accuracy that he’s shown in these high finishes. Again, that’s going to be key in the third major of the year given the course and typical conditions. However, he’s shown that he can play the overall type of game needed to have success. Now it all comes down to putting it together on the big stage presented at Royal Birkdale.
