2. Charley Hoffman (+12500)

There’s at least an 84.3 percent chance that people are tired of hearing me talk about Charley Hoffman at this point. I touted him as a dark horse for the U.S. Open, he’s among my picks on DraftKings in virtually every tournament that he plays and I just simply have a spot in my heart for the guy. However, that spot just happens to be reserved for a veteran player who has been nothing but impressive this season, especially of late, as he’s ranked 39th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Hoffman enters The Open Championship having made nine consecutive cuts, displaying a veteran wherewithal at 40 years old. More impressively, though, he’s played at a high level over that run, including finishing eighth at the U.S. Open and following that up with a tied-third finish at the Travelers Championship, his next tournament after the strong showing at the major. Now he’ll look to replicate that type of performance at Royal Birkdale.

The success at Erin Hills is really why I’m pushing Hoffman for the British Open. Though it’s a different course and one that’s much wider in terms of landing areas than Royal Birkdale, it offered many of the same challenges. Hoffman navigated those challenges so well that I don’t see him being particularly fazed by what the course in Southport throws at him. He could win, but even if he doesn’t, I expect a strong finish from the 40-year old.
