Oregon football 2017: Projected Ducks depth chart
Defense
Notable Losses:
The defensive line for the Oregon Ducks is in need of fresh bodies after losing players to the draft and off-the-field issues over the last couple of seasons. Jim Leavitt will return the Ducks to a 3-4 scheme this season and should have a big impact right away. Outside of D-Line depth concerns, the team is returning some talented players on the defensive side of the ball.
DE: Henry Mondeaux, Senior
DT: Scott Pagano, RS Senior
DE: Jalen Jelks, RS Junior
Mondeaux is the leader of this unit that is will be refilling the cupboard with further recruiting. Fortunately, they landed a big get with Scott Pagano. The defensive lineman is a graduate transfer from Clemson that should help right away.
OLB: Justin Hollins, Junior
OLB: Jimmie Swain, Senior
LB: Troy Dye, Sophomore
LB: A.J. Hotchkins, Senior
This is a group that has the potential to be great. Troy Dye was one of the most dynamic freshman in the country last year and is going to be one of the best in college football. He has a great ability to wrap up and tackle. Jimmie Swain and A.J. Hotchkins both have plenty of experience and round out this group nicely.
CB: Arrion Springs, Senior
S: Oliver Khalil, RS Junior
S: Brady Breeze, RS Freshman
CB: Ugo Amadi, Junior
Leavitt is going to have plenty of talent to work with in the secondary. Springs and Amadi are the two guys he’s going to rely on heavily, while redshirt freshman Brady Breeze has a real opportunity to make a big impact. Brenden Schooler is another experienced safety that will get plenty of playing time with this group.
