Brighton: Bobby Zamora

Like Bournemouth legend Steve Fletcher, Bobby Zamora spent all of his time at Brighton & Hove Albion in the second and third divisions. But that doesn’t diminish his value to the club and the legacy he left. Zamora most recently played for the club in 2015-16 season but was released immediately after his contract expired.

Zamora began his stint at Brighton during the 1999-00 season on loan from Bristol Rovers. In his six appearances, Zamora scored an impressive six goals. Following that loan stint, he signed a permanent deal and captured the attention of other clubs as well as the England U21 team. Zamora’s career really took off from there, and eventually he made stops at Tottenham, West Ham, Fulham and QPR.

His prolific goalscoring ability was the key to his success at Brighton, as he scored 77 goals for the Seagulls in 151 games. Zamora lasted only four full seasons at Brighton, but his performances during that time, for a club that have spent the vast majority of their existence outside the top flight, earn him the title of Brighton’s best player ever.

Zamora is a legend for Brighton fans, but now that Brighton are in the top flight it may be time for another player to take over the mantle as the club’s greatest.
