5 worst landing spots for Kyrie Irving
2. Chicago Bulls
Many imagined that LeBron James and Dwyane Wade would re-unite, forming a partial Banana Boat reunion. What if it were the case that Kyrie Irving joined forces with the ex-Heat superstar?
The Bulls were on Irving’s wishlist, but that was presumably before Jimmy Butler got dealt to the Minnesota Timberwolves. With Butler on his way out, I doubt Irving wants to land there.
Chicago is in total rebuild mode, with Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and first-round pick Lauri Markkanen. Irving would become the face of the franchise, but at the same time be the most experienced player on the roster — aside from Wade.
With no proven talent on his side, Irving would probably revert to becoming a one-on-one player with “Mamba Mentality.” That likely won’t work well in Chicago, who are trying to build a young team that can compete down the road.
Though it would get Irving out of Cleveland and LeBron’s shadow, it probably puts him under a different kind of pressure. Irving would probably be the best player that the Bulls have had since Derrick Rose in 2011, and the expectations would be sky-high.
