4- Jay Ajayi was going to help him get better

The breakout player of the Miami Dolphins’ season last year was not Ryan Tannehill but running back Jay Ajayi.

The Boise State product was drafted in the fifth round by Miami back in 2015. He saw limited action his rookie year after being out most of the early season with broken ribs. Ajayi played in nine games and rushed only 49 times for 187 yards.

The Dolphins were heading into the 2016 season with Arian Foster and Ajayi ready to take the bulk of carries. Ajayi started the season in the dog house, not even traveling for the team’s first game in Seattle.  However, Foster’s injury and subsequent retirement during the season gave the reins full to Ajayi.

Ajayi finished fourth in the league in rushing, and had eight touchdowns. There were three games over 200 yards rushing during the last campaign.

With an improving offensive line, Ajayi in the backfield, Jarvis Landry and Davante Parker on the outside, Tannehill was set to have his most complete offense since he arrived in the league and Ajayi would play a huge role in that.
