FanDuel daily WNBA fantasy picks: Friday, August 4
High Salary Guards
Courtney Vandersloot – Chicago Sky ($6,500): Since Cappie Pondexter went down with a concussion and Courtney Vandersloot was thrust into the role as the Sky’s primary offensive figure, she has really turned it on. Pondexter has since returned but Vandersloot is now at the helm and has been very productive. She routinely hits the double-double mark and has a good chance of doing it again against a struggling Indiana team that has lost their last four. We have a nice stacking opportunity here as well if you are interested in pairing Vandersloot up with the sharpshooting Allie Quigley ($6,500). Quigley has been shooting lights out this season, boasting a crazy 47 percent 3-point percentage. Indiana can’t do anything right in a season that has been plagued by inefficient play and injuries. The fever are allowing 39 percent shooting to opposing teams from behind the arc. I really like both of these ladies’ chances of producing big time points on Friday night.
Kristi Toliver – Washington Mystics ($5,500): Kristi Toliver has been on fire lately and with Elena Delle Donne injured and expected to miss the next few weeks, Toliver will see an increase in her production. She is averaging 31 fantasy points over the past three games and will likely have a nice night against the struggling Stars.
Sue Bird – Seattle Storm ($5,300) If you are going to target a team on Friday night to impose you fantasy will upon, let’s start out with the Wings. Dallas leads the league in points against as well as assists from opposing players. This is where Sue Bird comes in. The veteran has been quietly efficient on a team that usually focuses on the play of Breanna Stewart (and rightfully so). Bird had 15 points and six assists against Dallas a week ago. As in the case with Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley, Bird and fellow teammate Jewell Lloyd ($6,600) also present a nice stacking option. Much like Bird’s offensive play against the Wings last week, Lloyd was also efficient with a 27-point performance against them. Seattle is running their starting unit into the ground and hasn’t really looked to the bench much this season. As a result, Bird and Lloyd have the chance to be very involved in Dallas on Friday.
Other notable players to consider:
Diana Taurasi – Phoenix Mercury ($6,400)
Jasmine Thomas – Connecticut Sun ($5,800)
Kayla McBride – San Antonio Stars ($5,600)
